AJ Johnson

My name is AJ and I use they/them pronouns! Although I currently live in San Diego, CA, I was born in Seattle and still consider myself a Seattleite at heart. I’m a rising senior (which is terrifying) at Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts, and I’m studying Computer Science and a Self-Designed Major in Creative Writing and Film. I hope to work in the film world someday – or maybe I’ll change career paths entirely and become a therapist; who knows? I’m pretty indecisive.

I wanted to become a leader at NSTEM primarily so that I could challenge myself and work on my self-confidence. I am someone who really enjoys leadership but has a hard time believing that I could be good at it, so accepting a leadership role at NSTEM will make me more confident in my abilities as well as teach me new leadership skills that I can apply to future jobs and positions. Furthermore, I quite enjoy organization, planning, and managing logistics, so remotely managing an entire team will allow me to do what I love the most! I hope that my organizational skills can bring concrete knowledge of goals and a framework for achieving them to the Web and Tech team with, and I’m excited to learn and get feedback from the team as we all work together.
